YAWYE - Do they practice what they preach?

YAWYE - You Are What You Eat - a phrase that is banged on about by the medical professionals when they talk about obesity and the rise of it. BUT do Drs really believe that? I would say - No not really!

"Hey Dieting Dizzy that's a bit harsh isn't it? I mean, they are trained health professionals afterall and who are you?"

My statement may seem harsh, but when I think of my own digestive problems, my own health problems in general, I am beginning to wonder if they all stem from my diet (as in what I generally eat, not the losing weight kind of diet).

For years (since about the year 2000) I have suffered from acid reflux and as I get older it's getting worse! Now, when I have gone to see my GP about it - all I get told is - take Gaviscon - that will ease the symptoms! Yeah right - that's not addressing the root cause of the problem is it really?

I've been reading 3 books on making your body more alkaline and they all seem to make so much sense! I wonder if my GP would agree with the books...? I really have to get my body into a good working order and I think the way I can make me feel better in myself is to turn my body from an acid producing machine into an alkaline one (obviously we need a certain amount of acid in our bodies, but not as much as we have, in the West).

What if GPs actually agreed with the books I have been reading - well, for a start we would all stop drinking cow's milk because it is very acidic! Apparently a high acidic body makes a person more susceptible to cancers - why aren't we told that? Well places like McDonalds/Pizza Hut/Burger King etc would be empty, No one would buy milk/cheese etc anymore, beef, pork, bacon, sausage etc sales would plummet! Now that wouldn't make the businesses happy!

Anyway that's my little rant over with :)

I'm still reading the book! Will have to take a giant leap in faith to implement the diet!
