Fear of failure

The other day I was pondering on losing weight!

I'm 5'2" (158cm) and 11st 5lb (72.57kg, 160lb) so about 2 stone (12.7kg, 28lb) overweight. Most of my adult life I've been dieting, I lose weight then gain, lose, gain - in a crazy cycle. As I was pondering the other day, I wondered if I'm reluctant to lose weight again because I don't keep the weight off. Fear of failure!

Losing weight, I believe it's 90% psyche and 10% food. What if my Psyche could change and instead of fear of failure, how about seeing it as a challenge?  But what if I lose, then gain again - that's the challenge, being self disciplined enough to keep the weight off, don't think I can eat anything I want when I reach my goal (why I seem to think like that is illogical πŸ™„).

In the past when I have been self disciplined to lose weight, I have eaten healthily and exercised consistently - result = weight lost, inches (cm) lost. The problem is - the weight and inches (cm) find me again because - I go berserk eating what I want, then exercising becomes less important in life! 🀦🏻‍♀️

Answer:

Eat healthily ALL the time, even when I reach my goal weight

Exercise regularly, even when I reach my goal weight

Throw away ALL my larger clothes and don't keep any 'just in case' because I'm setting myself up for failure - which I then fear! πŸ™ˆπŸ€¨

Less of the pondering now and more of the action because I'm not getting any younger. Only a few more years until I'm 60 😳 now THAT'S scary 😱

UPDATE

I haven't been good for years where eating is concerned and I'm just fed up with the word 'diet'. I have followed Rosemary Conley's diets in the past and they do work! The thing is I feel a bit bored with them - the food is gorgeous and I have every book she has published (except her latest 3-2-1 Diet).

I have wondered if I can be self disciplined enough to actually stop following a set diet and make up my own plan using MyFitnessPal and healthy recipes!

Did people have this problem years ago before high fat and sugar processed food became freely available? Start from scratch meals are always yummier than processed ones and probably much more healthy so maybe that's the key!

Below is a photo of me in 2005 when I swam 6.5 miles a week, did 2 aerobic and toning DVDs a day etc. I was really fit! I ain't putting a photo of me online like I am now - unfit, and lardy! Maybe I could get to this weight again (3 stone lighter) IF IF IF I put my mind to it and ate less, exercised more!

HAPPY EASTER folks - don't eat too many eggs :D xxxx
